Pride and Prejudice

First Impressions, was Jane Austen's original title for the book that we know as Pride and Prejudice. So we focused on the impact of first impressions, the characters and ours as well, as we brought to life this story about love and relationships. Often Jane Austen's work is thought of through the lens of romance, but prejudice and pride not only affect romantic entanglements in our production, but the relationships inside of a family as well. The story features an array of fun and dramatic characters including the humorous cousin, Mr. Collins, who was destined to marry a Bennet daughter. A controlling aunt, Lady Catherine De Bourgh, who disapproves of a marriage between members of two different classes. A charismatic mother, Mrs. Bennet, who desires all five of her daughters to marry wealthy men. The cunning, Mr. Wickham, a British officer who charms every lady in the room.

So for it's fifth production, The Light Theater Co. is off the the English countryside, of 1811.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a large fortune must be in want of a wife." - Jane Austen
